This resulted in the promotion of Jan Tether who has been at Laser Cutting for over 12 years to the role of Production Controller. Jan who has a background in the army – and served in the W.R.A.C. as a Corporal in the Logistics Corp was delighted to accept the role in August. ]Jan’s’ previous role at Laser Cutting was in Customer Service / Manufacturing Support which is an excellent platform for understanding Customer needs. With the added responsibility Jan has really come into her own – jobs seem to be flying off the shop floor with order taking to despatch falling to as low as 2/3 days on standard service and 12/24 hours on Gold Service.
Jan said “It was initially challenging and a little scary to have the final say in organising the shop floor – but very, very rewarding to know that we are achieving more than ever before and doing it with a greater degree of ease. The shop floor guys and sales and admin team have been excellent in their support of my new role and the changes.”
Laser Cutting also have a fountain of expertise in the Programming Team with Mark Hobson and his two colleagues notching up over 25 years experience in programming complicated Tubular and Plate parts. John Stalker the MD said “This expertise is enabling us to look afresh at opportunities and in many instances re-program parts, to offer reduced cutting times and therefore save Customers money”.
