The company was bought out in January 2004 by John Stalker, a metals industry specialist, for an undisclosed sum and since this time a further £3 million has been invested in new machinery, upgrading the infrastructure and expanding the works area to include a new warehouse for accepting bulk/mill deliveries (now over 30,000 square feet) and installing state of the art computer hardware and software to facilitate excellent communication with customers.
Nowadays the company is thoroughly modern and runs state of the art laser machines provided by world class partners including Trumpf, BLM Adige and Mazak. Machines are being constantly reviewed, updated and maintained to ensure that our customers get the fastest and most reliable service at the best prices. Our latest Mazak Fabrigear 300 works in 3 Dimensional or 6 Axis mode and is the only machine in the UK that can offer automatic cutting of large tubes and sections (H, C, I etc) in automatic mode with optional bevel edges - also called weld preps.
Our wealth of in house technical knowledge means that we have more expertise than some in being able to advise clients on the enormous possibilities available by using the accuracy and flexibility of laser processing. Certainly whilst flat laser cutting is more established we believe that with tube cutting there are still many more productivity gains that are not currently being exploited.
Many small fabrication shops still saw or flame cut, end dress and machine out slots, drill and tap and then jig up before finally performing quality challenged welding. A series of processes undoubted cheaper to perform in the developing world!
This comment was recently made by one of our customers:-
Over the last few weeks we have been playing about with the tube work that you sent to me from the last few orders.
We have had great success with all of the new designs so we figured that we would just carry on developing the ideas further. One of the areas of great interest is the reduction/elimination of welding. We have been able to reduced welding by about 80%.
In reducing welding we also eliminate jigs, robot setup, distortion, etc. We are delighted with the savings we have been able to make with this new product development.
Regards.
A Customer
Hi Martin,
Broadly the business has two distinct metal offerings Tube and Sheet or Plate Metal. Many customers have commented that they find it convenient to use one supplier rather than split orders between suppliers, resulting in extra administration costs.
CNC laser cutting systems can cut from dimensioned design drawings typically .dxf .dwg and .iges received on e-mail or disk. More recently we are importing customers own 3D images. Our service extends to much more than just a pure laser cutting facility and typically includes a range of in house and resourced services including:
Other services can also be offered – please talk to our technical sales team.
Our range of strengths includes direct mill purchasing and stockholding to machining, welding, folding etc through to assembly, craneage, bespoke packaging and labelling. With 24 hour working, you can be assured of a rapid response and turnaround time.
As dedicated sub contractors serving a variety of industries we are as happy processing your own free issue material as we are with complete supply.
